Srinagar, Apr 03: In a tragic incident at Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua, a shootout ensued between the police and gangsters, resulting in the death of one gangster and the martyrdom of Sub-Inspector (PSI) Deepak Sharma. The encounter also left Special Police Officer (SPO) injured.
PSI Deepak Sharma, who sustained head injuries during the exchange of fire, was immediately rushed to Amandeep Hospital, Pathankot, for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries. SPO Anil Kumar also suffered injuries during the incident.
Expressing condolences, Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha said, “The nation stands in solidarity with the martyr’s family and Jammu and Kashmir Police. Every drop of blood shed by our martyr will be avenged, and we are committed to creating a fear-free Jammu and Kashmir.”
LG Manoj Sinha further praised PSI Deepak Sharma’s bravery, stating, “I salute the valor and indomitable courage of PSI Deepak Sharma, who made the supreme sacrifice while valiantly fighting and neutralizing a most-wanted gangster in Kathua. His sacrifice will remain etched in our hearts.”
Martyr PSI Deepak Sharma, with Personnel Identification (PID) No. EXJ/196480, aged about 30 to 32 years, was the son of Jyoti Parkash and a resident of Sangoor Near Railway Station Udhampur.
ADGP Jammu also expressed profound sorrow over the loss of PSI Deepak Sharma, hailing him as a true hero who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
“He bravely fought and neutralized a most-wanted gangster in Kathua last night, showcasing unmatched dedication and fearlessness.PSI Sharma’s dedication and bravery will always be remembered, extending heartfelt condolences to his family during this challenging period. “Rest in peace, Martyr Deepak Sharma,” ADP concluded.
His untimely demise has sent shockwaves across the region, and condolences pour in for his grieving family.
