Restrictions imposed for smooth general election in 05-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency ‘Door-to-Door campaigning permitted from April 17’

Srinagar, Apr 17: In a bid to ensure a seamless and secure General Election for the 05-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency in District Ramban, District Magistrate Ramban Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, IAS, has imposed restrictions under Section 144 Cr.PC.
“Effective immediately, gatherings of five or more persons, except at polling stations during polling hours, are prohibited.
These measures are implemented to maintain order and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process,” .
However, in an effort to facilitate democratic engagement, door-to-door campaigning will be permitted starting from April 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
This allowance aims to enable candidates and their supporters to engage with voters while adhering to the prescribed guidelines and maintaining public safety.
District Magistrate Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, IAS, emphasized the importance of cooperation from all stakeholders in upholding the peace and integrity of the electoral process.
He urged citizens to adhere to the imposed restrictions and cooperate with the authorities to ensure a smooth and fair election.
These measures come in light of the upcoming General Election, where the voice of the electorate will determine the future representation of the people in the district.
