Srinagar, June 16 (KINS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security meeting in the national capital, with the first session dedicated to addressing the overall Jammu and Kashmir security situation and the recent spate of terrorist attacks in Jammu region.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, included key officials such as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, and senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau, CRPF, and BSF.
During the initial session sources told KINS that the NSA Ajit Doval provided a detailed briefing on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, presenting intelligence inputs regarding the recent terrorist activities.
Discussions centered on immediate countermeasures, strategies to enhance regional security, and efforts to prevent further incidents.
The Home Minister emphasized the need for a coordinated approach among various security agencies to effectively counter the terrorist threats and maintain peace in the region.
The second session of the meeting shifted focus to the preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

He stressed the importance of real-time intelligence sharing, surveillance, and a coordinated approach among various security agencies.

Sources further said that the Army Chief General Manoj Pande and the Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka shared insights on the security arrangements along the pilgrimage route, including surveillance, patrolling, and deployment of forces. CRPF and BSF chiefs also outlined their respective forces’ roles in securing the event.

The resolve of the meeting was to enhance security protocols and to remain vigilant against any attempts to disrupt peace in the region.
The Union Home Minister assured that the government is fully committed to safeguarding the peace in Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring a peaceful and successful Amarnath Yatra.
The Amarnath Yatra, an annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine, attracts thousands of devotees from across the country. Given the sensitive nature of the region, robust security measures are crucial to ensure the safety of the pilgrims and the smooth conduct of the event.(KINS)
