NCC cadets in J&K engage in smartphone filmmaking course at combined annual training camp

Srinagar, Sep 07 (KINS): The Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (JK&L) Directorate is enhancing youth development through innovative skill-building initiatives.
A notable example is the ongoing Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) conducted by the 1 J&K Battalion NCC at the NCC Training Academy in Nagrota. Running from September 2 to 11, 2024, the camp has drawn 468 cadets from across the region.
Among the various training sessions, a specialized “Smartphone Filmmaking” course is taking place from September 5 to 9, 2024. Led by Mr. Amjad Jami, a renowned director from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, this course is designed to teach cadets the art of filmmaking using smartphone technology. Mr. Jami, with over 35 years of acclaimed experience in visual communication, is imparting his expertise on camera functionalities, lighting effects, and movie editing.
On September 6, Maj Gen RK Sachdeva, Additional Director General of the JK&L Directorate, visited the camp and reviewed the training activities. Col Saurabh Saxena, the Camp Commandant, briefed Maj Gen Sachdeva on the progress of the filmmaking course and other training modules. The course includes practical exercises in both indoor and outdoor settings, focusing on integrating picture and sound in group projects.
Maj Gen Sachdeva emphasized the importance of embracing technological advancements and leveraging them for personal and professional growth. “In today’s rapidly evolving world, mastering new technologies like smartphone filmmaking is essential. This training will not only enhance your technical skills but also enable you to explore your creative potential,” he stated.
The smartphone filmmaking course represents a significant step in equipping the youth of Jammu & Kashmir with modern skills, encouraging creativity, and preparing them for future career opportunities in an increasingly digital world.(KINS)
