Restoration of statehood, land, job issues more important than ministerial berths: J&K Congress Prez

Srinagar, Oct 14 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra said on Monday that the restoration of statehood, land rights, and job-related issues are more important than seeking ministerial positions in the upcoming Omar Abdullah-led government in the Union Territory.
“We have not yet discussed the distribution of ministerial berths with our alliance partner, the National Conference (NC). For us, the restoration of statehood, land rights, and addressing job-related issues take precedence over seeking ministerial positions in the new government in Jammu and Kashmir,” Karra told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
He said that both Congress and the NC are part of the INDIA Alliance, which aims to end hate politics in the country.
When asked whether Rahul Gandhi would attend the oath-taking ceremony, he replied, “We are not sure, as it depends on his availability and schedule.”
The National Conference-Congress alliance contested the elections jointly, with the NC contesting 51 seats and Congress 32. The National Conference secured 42 seats, followed by the BJP with 29, Congress with 6, the JKPDP with 3, and the remaining seats going to smaller parties and independents. (KINS)
