Srinagar , OCt 21: A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), led by a senior officer, is set to visit the terror attack site in Gagangir, located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The attack, which occurred on Sunday, resulted in the deaths of a doctor and six construction workers after terrorists opened fire at a construction site.
Sources revealed that a Superintendent of Police from the NIA’s regional office in the Union Territory will head the team, which is expected to reach the site by noon today. The attack targeted workers and staff returning to their camp near a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh highway.
The terrorists, believed to be two in number, opened fire on both local and non-local laborers. Two workers died instantly, while three others and a doctor succumbed to their injuries later. Five more individuals are currently being treated for injuries sustained during the attack.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah condemned the attack, calling it a “despicable act of cowardice” and assured that those responsible would face severe consequences. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed his dismay, condemning the attack on unarmed civilians and extending condolences to the victims’ families.
