Speaker rejects BJP’s demands, says ‘only no-confidence motion can remove him’

KINS DESK
Srinagar, Nov 7 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather dismissed BJP’s call to reverse the resolution on J&K’s special status or resign from his role.
He advised BJP to file a no-confidence motion if they oppose his leadership instead of disrupting Assembly proceedings.
“I cannot tolerate such disrespect for national symbols. As Speaker, I must ensure that such actions do not go unchecked,” he said, adding that he had instructed marshals to prevent members from entering the Well of the House and disrupting order.
Rather also criticized the BJP for not adhering to parliamentary rules, advising them to familiarize themselves with the Assembly’s procedures. On the matter of a resolution from a group of MLAs from PDP, Peoples Conference, and Awami Ittehad Party, he clarified that he had not yet received it and that any such resolution must follow the correct submission process.
