Real Kashmir FC to face Delhi FC on Wednesday

Srinagar, Dec 03: Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) is gearing up for its upcoming I-League match against Delhi FC, scheduled for Wednesday (December 04).

This will be RKFC’s third game of the season. In the previous matches, the Kashmir team secured a victory against Rajasthan United FC, while their game against Gokulam Kerala FC ended in a draw.

Addressing a pre-match press conference on Tuesday, RKFC head coach Ishfaq Ahmad acknowledged the competitiveness of all I-League teams.

“Playing against Delhi FC will be a tough challenge. Despite their one loss this season, they have a strong squad. I hope our players will deliver positive results for the team,” Ishfaq said.

He admitted that his team came under pressure during the second half of their previous game against Gokulam Kerala FC. “We need to adapt our strategies and ensure we don’t repeat those mistakes,” he added.

Ishfaq also highlighted the bright future of football in Kashmir. “Several academies are emerging in Kashmir, and the J&K Sports Council is running multiple programs to support football’s growth here,” he noted.

Speaking about the broader impact of the I-League, Ishfaq stated its contribution to the local economy. “The I-League matches are broadcast live on Sony. Additionally, fans traveling with away teams have been promoting sports tourism in Kashmir. If ISL teams also play here, it would be a significant boost for the region,” he said.

RKFC owner Arshad Shawl encouraged fans to come out and support the team in Wednesday’s match, as he continues to play a key role in promoting football in the region.

RKFC manager Yasir Malik also appealed to fans, emphasizing the importance of supporting Kashmir’s only club participating in the I-League.

On the other side, Delhi FC head coach Yan Cheng Law expressed his team’s determination to secure their first win of the season.

“Tomorrow will be a tough game for us. This is RKFC’s third straight home game. Additionally, it’s our first match on artificial turf, and the weather conditions here will be challenging. Nonetheless, I believe it will be a good game, and we hope for favorable results,” he concluded.

The match will start at 2 pm and will be live on various channels.
