Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers in Srinagar, Seize Contraband Substances

Srinagar, Dec 20 (KINS): In two separate operations, Srinagar police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered significant quantities of contraband and psychotropic substances.
In the first incident, acting on specific intelligence, a police team from PS Nowgam, accompanied by a 1st Class Executive Magistrate from BK Pora, raided the residence of Bashir Ahmed Ganie, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie, in Suthsu Kalan. The search resulted in the recovery of 8.5 kilograms of psychotropic substances. The accused has been taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 116/2024 has been registered under the NDPS Act.
In another case, as part of the investigation into FIR No. 28/2024 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at PS Maisuma, police established a checkpoint at Sheikh Bagh Lane. Acting on leads provided by two previously arrested peddlers, the primary accused, Shabir Ahmad Zaindari, son of Bashir Ahmad Zaindari, from Firdous Colony Bemina, was apprehended. A significant quantity of contraband substances was seized during the operation.
Police have reiterated their commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking, urging citizens to support their efforts in eradicating this societal menace.(KINS)
