No flood threat in Kashmir, situation under control: Divisional Commissioner

Srinagar, Mar 15 (KINS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, assured that there is no threat of floods in the Valley, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation on an hourly basis.

He also noted that the recent relentless rainfall has almost compensated for the previous rain deficit.

Speaking to reporters as per KINS, Bidhuri expressed satisfaction over the ongoing precipitation, stating that the decrease in water levels had left orchards and agricultural land dry, making the rainfall a much-needed relief.

“It is a blessing that Kashmir has witnessed continuous rains over the past few days, compensating for the previous shortfall. People had been praying for precipitation, and it happened during the holy month of Ramadhan,” he said.

He reiterated that there is no flood threat and that authorities remain vigilant.

“The administration is closely monitoring all critical points every hour. There is no need for panic, as the situation is fully under control,” he assured.

Addressing a query, Bidhuri stated that teams are conducting market inspections to regulate the prices of essential commodities ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.(KINS)
