Digital India transforming governance and empowering citizens: Dr Jitendra Sing

New Delhi, Mar 18 (KINS): Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the pivotal role of digital governance in ensuring uninterrupted government operations during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Economic Times “Digitech Conclave 2025.” He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary launch of the Digital India initiative in 2015, which positioned India ahead of global counterparts in digital governance.

Dr. Singh emphasized that nearly 70-80% of India’s digital infrastructure was already in place before the pandemic, enabling seamless governance when the world was in lockdown. The early adoption of digital tools ensure uninterrupted public services and direct financial assistance through UPI and the JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile) trinity, providing essential support to millions. He also highlighted how the government successfully ensured food security for 80 crore citizens during the crisis.

Among key initiatives, Dr. Singh praised Ayushman Bharat, calling it a unique global healthcare model offering cashless treatment for millions, and the Swamitva Mission, which has legally mapped 60-70% of India’s land, giving rightful ownership to citizens.

India’s digital governance model has gained global recognition, attracting delegations from neighboring countries for training programs. Dr. Singh also discussed India’s rising space economy, projected to reach $45 billion, and the unlocking of the nuclear energy sector, boosting energy self-sufficiency.

Concluding his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded PM Modi’s “Whole of Government, Whole of Science, and Whole of Nation” approach, which is reshaping India’s socio-economic landscape and driving the nation toward a digital and self-reliant future.(KINS)
