NC MLA Tanvir Sadiq urges Amit Shah to fulfil promise of restoring J&K Statehood
Jammu, Apr 7 (KINS): As Union Home Minister Amit Shah continues his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference (NC) MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Monday reiterated the demand for restoration of statehood to the Union Territory.
Speaking to reporters as per news agency KINS, Sadiq acknowledged Shah’s role in addressing national security concerns but stressed that the return of statehood remains a key promise yet to be fulfilled.
“He is the country’s Home Minister, and it is his right and responsibility to address security issues. But the most important issue is the promise he made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir — that of restoring statehood. We hope it happens soon,” Sadiq said.
The statement comes amid renewed political focus on J&K’s constitutional and administrative status, with several parties demanding a clear timeline for the return of full statehood following the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019.(KINS)
