Congress legislators yet to receive directions from Central leadership on supporting NC in RS polls, says MLA Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmad
KINS Correspondent
Srinagar, Oct 23 (KINS): Congress MLA from Rajouri, Iftikhar Ahmad, on Thursday said that the party is yet to receive any directive from its central leadership on whether to vote in favour of National Conference (NC) candidates in Friday’s Rajya Sabha polls.
He was reacting to NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s statement earlier in the day, in which he claimed that Congress legislators would vote for four NC candidates in the RS elections.
“I don’t know in what context Farooq Sahab made this statement that Congress legislators will support NC. We have not received any directions from the central leadership so far,” Iftikhar told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
He said that a meeting of Congress legislators has been scheduled for 6 pm today to finalize the party’s strategy for the polls.
“At 6 pm today, Congress legislators will hold a meeting and decide the strategy for tomorrow’s polls,” the MLA Rajouri added. (KINS)
