Srinagar, Nov 20 (KINS): Janata Dal (United) Chief Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 10th time on Thursday. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy at a grand ceremony held at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, J. P. Nadda, Chirag Paswan, and several other senior NDA leaders attended the event.
A total of 27 ministers, including the Chief Minister, took oath as part of the new Bihar government. From the BJP, Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Dilip Jaiswal, Mangal Pandey, Nitin Nabin, and Ram Kripal Yadav were sworn in.
JD(U) leaders Leshi Singh, Shrawan Kumar, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Zama Khan, and Ashok Chaudhary also took oath as cabinet ministers.
In the recently concluded Assembly elections, the NDA secured a sweeping mandate, winning 202 seats in the 243-member House. The BJP bagged 89 seats, JD(U) 85, LJP(R) 19, Hindustani Awam Morcha 5, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha 4.
The Opposition’s Mahagathbandhan was reduced to 35 seats.
Prime Minister Modi congratulated Nitish Kumar in a social media post, calling him an “experienced administrator with a proven track record of good governance,” and wished him success for the new term.
He also congratulated Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha on assuming office as Deputy Chief Ministers, praising their grassroots experience and dedication to public service. The PM extended best wishes to all newly inducted ministers, calling it a “capable and committed team ready to take Bihar to new heights.”
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan also extended greetings to Nitish Kumar and the new cabinet, expressing confidence that their leadership would usher in a new era of sustained growth, good governance, and inclusive development. (KINS)
