Freezing water causes 3-vehicle collision near Dal Lake Ghat

Srinagar, Nov 29 (KINS): Three vehicles were involved in a collision near Ghat No. 25 on the Nishat–Dalgate road in Srinagar on Saturday morning after freezing water made the road surface dangerously slippery, officials said.

A police official said a military vehicle (54 QAT), a Maruti Alto and an Innova crashed after the drivers lost control on an icy stretch. Water flowing across the road during the night had turned into a sheet of ice by morning, causing the vehicles to skid near a bend. “No fatalities were reported, though several occupants of the civilian vehicles sustained minor injuries and were given first aid,” the official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).

Traffic police urged motorists to drive slowly and avoid sudden braking on icy roads. (KINS)
