Srinagar, May 04(KINS): In a major action under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police demolished an “illegally constructed house” belonging to a habitual drug peddler in the Palpora Noorbagh area.
Police in a statement said that the accused, Mohammad Irfan Sheikh alias Iff, son of Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh and a resident of Pamposh Colony, Palpora Noorbagh, is a known narcotics offender. He has been involved in multiple cases under the NDPS Act, including FIR No. 134/2024 at Police Station Safakadal and FIR No. 48/2025 at Police Station Sangam.
According to officials, investigations revealed that the demolished structure had been built illegally using money earned from drug trafficking. The construction was carried out without legal permission, violating revenue laws. Authorities also found that some close associates and family members of the accused are allegedly involved in similar cases across the Valley, pointing to a larger network of drug-related activities.
The demolition was carried out after completing all legal procedures and in coordination with the concerned authorities.
Police said the action sends a clear message that properties created through illegal drug money will be targeted, and those involved in narcotics trade will face strict consequences.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy, the police urged the public to cooperate and share information to help eliminate the drug menace and protect society, especially the youth.(KINS)
