Kaman Aman Setu emerges as major tourist attraction, boosts border tourism in Uri

Ishtiyaq Kar
Srinagar, May 21: Kaman Aman Setu, renowned for the historic cross-LoC Karawan-e-Aman bus service in the border area of Uri, has become a major attraction for locals and tourists from across the country.
Since opening to the public, Kaman Post has experienced a remarkable increase in visitors from various states, significantly benefiting local residents through border tourism.
“Visitors to Kaman Post are learning about India’s heroes who defended the borders during the 1947-1948 war. Busts of war martyrs from that period have been installed along what is now called ‘Veer Path,’ designed to inspire and educate the younger generation about the sacrifices made for the nation,” officials said.
One tourist from Gujarat, named Milian, shared his enthusiasm: “It is great to visit such beautiful destinations, especially near the LoC. We came to Kashmir from Surat, Gujarat, and learned that Kaman Post is open for tourists. We immediately decided to visit, and it is amazing here.”
Milian’s father echoed his excitement, emphasizing the unique experience of visiting Kaman Post with his family. “It was a great experience for us to see the Kaman Post. We came here with the family, and it was truly memorable. I encourage others to visit and enjoy this remarkable experience.”
The increase in tourism at Kaman Aman Setu not only showcases the historical and cultural significance of the site but also promotes local economic growth.
The initiative to open Kaman Post to civilians has provided a unique opportunity for visitors to connect with the rich history and heritage of the region, while also supporting local businesses and communities.
The authorities have ensured that the site is well-maintained and secure for visitors, allowing them to enjoy the scenic beauty and historical significance of the area without any concerns.
The efforts to highlight the bravery of war heroes through ‘Veer Path’ have added an educational dimension to the visit, making it a profound experience for tourists.(KNS)
