Militants slain in Ananthnag gunfight identified

Srinagar: The two militants slain in an overnight gunfight with government forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have been identified.


Kashmir Indepth learned from official sources about the identification of two militants slain in Naina Sagam area of Ananthnag on Friday night as Naveed Ahmed Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat of Qaimoh Kulgam and Aqib Ahmed Bhat son of Mohammad Yaseen Bhat of Wampora Shamispora Bijbhera, of Lashker-e-Toiba militant outfit.


“Incriminating material such as arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken into case records to probe their complicity in other terror crimes,” an official said.

“Bodies of the slain militants were handed over to their families after completion of medico-legal formalities,” officials further said.
