Police solves murder case; accused arrested

Srinagar, Mar 06 : Kulgam police solved a murder case and arrested an individual involved in the crime.

“On 4th of March, Qaimoh police attended a terror crime spot where dead body of an individual was retrieved from a truck (HP Oil Tanker) parked on road side on Khudwani Bypass Highway. The deceased was identified as Pratap Singh resident of Jajherkotli Jammu,” a police spokesman said in a statement.

“Accordingly, a case FIR number 08/2020 under relevant sections was registered and investigation was entrusted to a SIT led by SDPO Qazigund”.

Police with the aid of modern and scientific methods of investigation were able to gather circumstantial evidences form the scene of crime. Police while carrying out the investigation in a professional and scientific manner were able to identify one individual involved in the crime. He was identified as Sukhdev Singh of Sair Rakhwalan, Domana Jammu. He has been arrested for his involvement in the crime and shifted to Police Station, he said.

“While carrying out the investigations, officers learnt that he had arrived in Qazigund on 2nd of March and he along with Pratap Singh collectively decided to sell the kerosene oil loaded in the oil tanker to another person known to the accused Sukhdev Singh. Accordingly the oil was sold and the amount obtained from the sale was transferred to the bank account of Sukhdev”.

In the intervening night of 3rd and 4th March, both of them reached at Khudwani Bypass and parked their vehicle on the road side. The accused then planned to exterminate Pratap Singh with the intention to grab the whole amount obtained from the sale of kerosene oil which was already lying in the bank account of Pratap Singh, the spokesman said.

“The accused then proceeded to kill Pratap Singh and after the commission of crime, he boarded a vehicle towards Jammu and escaped from the scene of crime”.

Further investigation in the matter is in progress, he added.
