Awantipora Police arrests drug peddler, contraband substances recovered

March 17: Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Awantipora, Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Brabadina crossing intercepted an individual identified as Altaf Mir resident of Kawani Awantipora. During search officers were able to recover 1Kg charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Case FIR No. 32/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
