8 More Die of COVID, J&K toll 115

Srinagar, July 2(KINS): Kashmir reported fresh eight COVID related deaths on Thursday, taking the fatalities due to COVID19 in Jammu and Kashmir to 115.

Four deaths reported at SKIMS Soura , three at SMHS hospital and one death was reported at CD hospital Srinagar.

Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura while sharing details of four deceased persons to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service(KINS), said a 55-year-old man from Kulgam was the first death reported at SKIMS on Thursday morning. He said the patient was admitted on 22/06/20 was known case of HTN with T2 DM with multifocal Encephalopathy.

He said the second patient who died of this virus here was a 65-year-old man from Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. He said the pateient was admitted on 22 June.“The patient was hypertensive, T2DM (type-2 diabetes) with Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and he had sudden cardiopulmonary arrest at 3:05 a.m.” Professor Jan said.

Professor Jan said 65-year-old man from Tarigam area of Kulgam was admitted to the hospital on June 23. “He was referred from GMC Anantnag in view of B/L CAP with ARDS. The patient was Covid positive and died at 2:30 p.m.,”.

The fourth patient a 65-year-old man from Nadigam Shopian was admitted in Infectious Disease Block of the hospital on July 1 as a case of Coronary Artery Disease with bilateral Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) with Type-1 Respiratory Failure. “The patient expired on at 4.45 p.m. today,” he said.

Dr Nazir Choudhary. Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital, told KINS that two deaths reported on Wednesday evening and their swab samples returned positive for the COVID-19 on Thursday morning. He said a 75-year-old man from Budgam district and a 65-year-old from Batamaloo Srinagar.

Dr Nazir said another patient a Kulgam resident who was admitted at SMHS on 30 June as a case of Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) and hypokalaemia died at SMHS on Thursday morning.

Dr Salim Tak Medical Superintendent at Chest Disease hospital Srinagar told KINS, a 60-year-old man from Habba Kadal area of Srinagar was admitted on June 29. ”The patient was diabetic, hypertensive and was suffering pneumonia and other ailments and died on Thursday morning,” he added.

With these fresh eight deaths, the toll related to Covid-19 has reached to 115 in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir— 102 from the Valley and 13 from Jammu division. (KINS)
