Srinagar Dec 26:NAFIS enrolment user training program at District Police Lines Srinagar, was inaugurated by DIG Crime J&K, Javaid Iqbal Mattoo-IPS.
In his keynote address, Mattoo underscored the pivotal role of fingerprints in law enforcement investigations. He emphasized the significance of NAFIS (National Automated Fingerprint System) as a nationwide searchable database crucial for identifying and establishing crimes against perpetrators through scientific evidence.
Dignitaries present included Suhail Munawer- SSP (EOW Kashmir), Musadiq Basu, SP (CICE Kashmir), Nissar Ahmad Khoja, DySP (DAR) DPL, Srinagar, DySP Feroze Mohammad, Pvt. Secy. to DIG Crime J&K, Jagpal Sharma DySP, (F.P. Expert) IC NAFIS, CRB, Jammu.
Fingerprint experts Ganesh Gajalwad and Dhananjay Jadhav from CFPB/NCRB conducted comprehensive NAFIS application training, addressing real-time queries faced by enrolled users. They urged participants to build a high-quality NAFIS database, embrace the web-based application, and incorporate advanced investigation skills.
The training program aims to equip participants with knowledge of fingerprint science, relevant laws, including the Criminal Procedure Identification Act-2022, and the digitization/processing of fingerprints using NAFIS software. Insp (C) Iftikhar Ahmad and Insp. (EOW) Tasleem Ahmad Khan are coordinating the workshop under close supervision.
