Kashmir Schools Bustle Back to Life as Winter Break Concludes

Ishtiyaq Kar
Srinagar, March 04: Today marked a lively return to classrooms across the Kashmir division as government and recognized private schools resumed their regular schedules, igniting the corridors with the chatter of eager students.
Following a hiatus of over three months, schools swung open their doors to welcome back their young learners after a prolonged winter vacation.
The break, which began on November 28, 2023, for students up to 8th grade and December 11, 2023, for those in 9th to 12th standard, concluded as schools were set to resume activities from March 1, 2024.
However, due to an adverse weather forecast predicting heavy rains and snowfall, the resumption of classes was postponed by an additional two days.
As the sun rose on the morning, students were met with warm greetings and welcome gifts from the teaching staff, setting a jubilant tone for the day.
The joyous atmosphere reflected the children’s excitement as they returned to their beloved schools after the extended winter hiatus.
In preparation for the upcoming annual board examinations and to enhance school facilities, teaching staff had already reported to their respective schools from February 21, 2024.
While schools across much of Kashmir reopened their doors, those situated in snowbound areas remained inaccessible, awaiting clearer pathways.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has scheduled annual examinations for students in softer zones.
Starting on March 6 for class 12th, March 11 for class 10th, and March 30, 2024, for class 11th in softer zone areas, the examinations mark another milestone in the academic calendar.
