Srinagar, Oct 10 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President,Tariq Hameed Karra, has endorsed the National Conference (NC) nominating Omar Abdullah as chairman legislative party.
Speaking to the news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), Karra said that the Congress is set to hold crucial meetings with its legislators before concluding the coalition roadmap with NC.
“It is good that the National Conference legislators have chosen Omar Abdullah as Chairman legislative party, which means he will be the upcoming Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir,” Karra said.
He confirmed that he would be returning to Srinagar by tomorrow and that the Congress Legislative Party meeting would take place shortly thereafter.
“Once we conclude our internal meeting, we will proceed with a formal alliance meeting with the National Conference,” he added, signaling a coordinated effort between the two major political parties in Jammu and Kashmir.
Karra also stated that the coalition’s primary focus would be to address the grievances of the people and
try to overturn the “anti-people” decisions taken by the ‘current administration’.
“We will review all the anti-people decisions the government has made, especially those affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir. One key demand from the people of Jammu is the restoration of the Darbar Move, and that is something we will definitely discuss,” he said.
Despite the momentum building around the alliance between Congress and NC, Karra stressed that there is no rush to form a government. “We will definitely form a coalition government but we are not in a hurry. It will take some more days before formal government formation,” he said (KINS)
