Srinagar, Nov 11 (KINS): Several high-altitude areas in Kashmir Valley received fresh snowfall on Monday, signaling the arrival of winter in the Valley.
News agency KINS reported that Sadhna top recorded the highest accumulation with five inches of snow, followed by Gulmarg Phase 2 with four inches. Razdan Pass and Peer Ki Gali each saw three inches, and Sinthan top recorded two inches.
Kilshay top received between two to three inches, while areas around Baltal and Pahalgam recorded one to two inches.
The snowfall has caused the closure of the Gurez-Bandipora road due to approximately three inches of snow and continuous accumulation in the area.
Heavy winds are exacerbating conditions, making travel dangerous. Authorities have issued a public advisory urging residents and travelers to avoid the route until conditions improve.
In contrast, light rain fell across the plains of Kashmir, while snowfall continues in some upper areas. (KINS)
