Srinagar, Dec 07 (KINS): Senior National Conference (NC) leader Tanvir Sadiq Saturday said that the government will deliver on its promise of providing 200 units of free electricity to every household in Jammu and Kashmir starting March 2025.
Talking to reporters as per news agency KINS, Sadiq assured that the plan is on track and aimed at offering relief to residents amid rising energy costs.
“This is not just a symbolic gesture; it’s a practical commitment. While the initiative could be implemented now, it would lead to additional power curtailments, which the government wants to avoid. We are finalizing the rollout to ensure fairness and stability in the power supply,” he said.
The scheme, part of the government’s broader welfare agenda, is expected to ease financial burdens and improve living standards across J & J&K.
About reports of tensions between Raj Bhavan and the elected government, Sadiq dismissed the claims as baseless. “There is complete cooperation. Jammu and Kashmir functions as a Union Territory, and synergy between institutions is essential for effective governance,” he stated. (KINS)
