Roti prices settled temporarily: Rs 7 for one, Rs 20 for three

Srinagar, Dec 27: Amid growing public discontent over the sudden hike in the price of local bread by bakers (Nanwais), Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, convened a meeting on Friday with representatives of the bakers’ association to resolve the issue.

To provide interim relief and address the crisis, the meeting resulted in a temporary agreement to fix the price of one Roti (approximately 42 gm) at Rs 7 and three Rotis at Rs 20. This arrangement will remain in place until the Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department completes its market analysis and submits a comprehensive report on the matter.

The decision aims to strike a balance between consumer affordability and the bakers’ concerns, ensuring fairness while the review is underway.
