Waqf Bill falls short of opposition expectations: NC MLA Salman Ali Sagar

KINS DESK

Srinagar, Jan 30 (KINS): National Conference leader and MLA Salman Ali Sagar Thursday raised concerns over the Waqf Bill, saying it does not meet the expectations of the opposition.
He pointed out that although the bill had been discussed several times, the parliamentary committee, led by its chairman, largely ignored the opposition’s concerns.
“The bill is not satisfactory in its current form,” Sagar told news agency KINS.
He mentioned that certain parts of the bill are worrying and believes the Muslim community across the country may feel the same. “It’s unlikely there will be full agreement on this, but we hope further discussions in Parliament will lead to improvements.”
Salman Sagar also expressed optimism about the upcoming Union Budget for Jammu and Kashmir.
“We hope Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also the Finance Minister, will include provisions for pension schemes, youth welfare, and other initiatives for the people in the budget,” he said.
“We are confident the budget will prioritize the welfare of the people and the youth.”(KINS)
