BJP protests in Jammu over Deputy CM’s ‘Dictator’ remark on Maharaja Hari Singh

Jammu, March 06 (KINS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest in Jammu on Thursday, condemning Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary’s remark calling the last Dogra ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh, a “dictator.”

Chaudhary had stated that Maharajas were dictators as they were selected rather than elected. His comments, made in the assembly, sparked outrage, with BJP leaders and supporters taking to the streets.

“They repeatedly make unconstitutional statements, disturbing the peaceful atmosphere, which will not be tolerated,” said one protester, criticizing Chaudhary’s remarks.

Another demonstrator demanded a retraction, saying, “We want Surinder Chaudhary to take back his words and acknowledge his mistake.”

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Chaudhary had reiterated his stance, asking, “Aren’t Maharajas dictators? Were they elected?(KINS)
