Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to Remain Closed Tomorrow Amid Incomplete Restoration Work

Srinagar, April 20 (KINS): Incessant rains have severely hampered restoration efforts on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), leading to the suspension of vehicular traffic on the crucial route for tomorrow.

According to officials, restoration work could not be completed till 8 PM today due to persistent rainfall and challenging conditions along the highway, particularly between the Nashri stretch and the NAVYUG Tunnel.

Authorities have advised commuters and transporters not to undertake any journey on the highway until further notice, stating that the road surface is currently unfit for traffic.

“Restoration work is ongoing, but weather conditions have slowed progress. Traffic will remain suspended until the road is deemed safe and traffic-worthy,” said an official from the traffic department.

Travelers are urged to stay updated through official bulletins and avoid venturing out on NH-44 until the administration confirms the reopening of the route.(KINS)
