KPDCL announces scheduled power shutdowns for maintenance and upgrades

SRINAGAR, July 14 (KINS): Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across various areas of Srinagar and its outskirts to facilitate preventive maintenance and installation of new infrastructure.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL:

On July 17, 2025, power supply to Zainakote, ICCC, Industrial Area, HMT, Shalteng, Mujgund, Bakshipora, and adjoining areas will remain affected from 12:00 Noon to 01:00 PM due to shutdown of the 33KV HMT line for installation and commissioning of the newly created feeder F#7 (dedicated for Unani Hospital Shalteng).

On July 19, 2025, shutdown of the 33KV Bemina I & II lines will be observed for line stabilization, preventive maintenance, and tree branch cutting. As a result, Bemina I and Bemina II Receiving Stations will remain off, affecting power supply to HIG/MIG Colony, Nund Resh Colony, Hamza Colony, Gousia Colony, Sir Syed Abad, Qammerwari, Chatbal, SK Colony, Taushedabad, Bemina, Court Complex, Mandi, and surrounding areas from 06:00 AM to 01:00 PM.

Also on July 19, 2025, the 33KV Bemina-Karan Nagar line will be shut down, impacting Karan Nagar and Shalistore Receiving Stations, and thereby affecting Chatabal, Balgarden, Zaldagar, Police Lines, Civil Secretariat, SMHS Hospital, Gole Market, Guru Bazar, Tankipora, Shaheed Gunj, and nearby areas during the same hours.

On the same day, shutdowns of 33KV lines feeding Fatehkadal, Khayam, Barbarshah, Basant Bagh, Rakhi Arth, Court Complex, GIS Batamaloo, JVC, PC Depot, Children Hospital, and JVC Hospital will affect several areas including Fatehkadal, Khayam, Barbarshah, Basant Bagh, Hamdania Colony, Sabadan, Batmaloo, Bus Adda, Moominabad, Gund Reshi Colony B, Bemina, State Motor Garage, Haj House, Forensic Lab, Qammerwari, and Baran Pathri between 06:00 AM and 01:00 PM.

On July 15, 2025, to complete the installation of a 33KV isolator for the standby tap line of the Children Hospital, shutdown of 33KV Sharifabad-Narbal line will affect Narbal, Lawaypora, Sozeith, Kawoosa, Mazhama, Sanoor, Kralpora, Radbugh, Malpora, and adjoining areas from 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

KPDCL has appealed to the public to bear with the inconvenience, stating the shutdowns are necessary to ensure improved and uninterrupted power supply in the long run.
