Baramulla, August 31: Baramulla Police has exposed a conspiracy in which three individuals, including a local advocate and her husband, attempted to falsely implicate a man by planting a fake Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at his residence in Tangmarg.
According to police, on July 31, 2025, Tangmarg Police received an input about an IED concealed in the house of Manzoor Ahmed Khan, son of Mohammad Ayoub Khan, resident of Mahayan Ferozpora. A swift cordon and search operation was launched in collaboration with security agencies, leading to the recovery of a suspicious package near the main gate of the house.
A bomb disposal squad was called in, and upon inspection, the package was found to be a plastic box designed to resemble an IED. It was confirmed to be fake and posed no explosive threat.
Subsequently, an FIR No. 56/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tangmarg. During the investigation, Sajad Ahmed Ganie, son of Mohammad Qasim Ganie, resident of Nowgam Sumbal, was identified as the prime suspect. He initially went into hiding but was later apprehended by police. On interrogation, he confessed to planting the fake IED at the behest of Advocate Rahila Qadri, estranged ex-wife of Manzoor Khan, and her current husband Advocate Rayees Ahmed Bhat, resident of Pandithpora Tangmarg.
Investigations revealed that due to a long-standing matrimonial dispute, Rahila Qadri conspired with her husband to frame her ex-husband in a fake explosives case. To execute the plan, they engaged Sajad Ganie, who not only planted the fake IED but also gave false information to police in an attempt to implicate Manzoor Khan.
Police have served notices to all three accused, and the case will be taken to its logical conclusion in the court of law.
Reaffirming its stance, Baramulla Police stated that no individual will be allowed to be falsely implicated and strict action will be taken against those misusing law enforcement agencies for personal vendetta.
