Jammu, Dec 11 (KINS) Minister for Tribal Affairs Javaid Rana Wednesday assured that the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to fully restoring the Darbar Move, a centuries-old practice that symbolizes Jammu and Kashmir’s unique administrative tradition.
Speaking to the media in Jammu as per news gathering agency KINS, Rana confirmed that the Darbar Move was partially restored this year, with a complete return planned for next year.
“In the first cabinet meeting, Omar Abdullah made it clear that this year we will see a partial restoration of the Darbar Move, and by next year, it will be fully reinstated,” said Rana. “The Darbar Move is an important part of our culture and history, and it’s time to bring it back.”
Rana also raised concerns about the public’s lack of response to the abolition of the Darbar Move, which was halted following the revocation of Article 370 in 2019. “Why do the people of Jammu remain silent about those who abolished the Darbar Move? This is a crucial issue for Jammu, and people should have spoken out,” he questioned.
Rana’s remarks came after a meeting between Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and civil society members in which various regional concerns, including the Darbar Move, were discussed.
The Darbar Move, which involved shifting government offices between Jammu and Srinagar, was viewed by many as an essential part of the region’s political and administrative structure before it was discontinued.(KINS)
