Srinagar, Dec 11 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed young innovators at the Grand Finale of the ‘Smart India Hackathon 2024 – Hardware Edition’ at Galgotias University.
Hailing the initiative as a dynamic platform for bridging academia and industry, the LG underscored the transformative impact of innovation on India’s journey to becoming a developed nation by 2047.
In his keynote, the LG highlighted India’s evolution as a global leader in innovation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past decade. He emphasized the role of cutting-edge and sustainable technologies in shaping the nation’s future, urging participants to channel their creativity into solutions for real-world challenges.
“We must focus on innovations that serve society, such as water and energy conservation, waste management, precision agriculture, and e-governance,” said the LG.
The LG called on innovators to ensure their creations benefit all sections of society, emphasizing that the fruits of innovation must reach the grassroots level. “To lead in technological inventions, we need knowledge, commitment, and collaborations. Environment-friendly innovations are essential for sustainable development,” he remarked.
The LG stressed the need for
intelligent, integrated devices to address challenges in food, water, energy, and environmental sustainability.
He highlighted the transformative potential of Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT, Big Data, AR, AI, and robotics, in revolutionizing traditional sectors like space, atomic energy, and defense.
LG Sinha urged educational institutions to foster entrepreneurship and strengthen partnerships with industries to address societal challenges.
He stressed implementing the National Education Policy 2020 to establish India as a knowledge economy.
At the LG’s request, Galgotias University’s Chancellor announced a 50% scholarship for students from Jammu & Kashmir, a move aimed at fostering greater inclusivity in education.
The LG also encouraged young participants to explore diverse areas such as soil health, pest control, and real-time data in agriculture, asserting that innovation must drive social change and economic growth.
Prominent attendees included Member of Parliament Ashok Bajpai, Galgotias University Chancellor Suneel Galgotia, Vice Chancellor Dr. K. Mallikharjuna Babu, faculty, students, and innovators from across the nation.(KINS)
