Srinagar Police arrests 06 drug peddlers in a series of actions

February 03: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar arrested 06 drug peddlers and seized huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession. The drug peddlers involved in peddling drugs across several districts of Kashmir valley.

Based on credible input police party from police station Raj Bagh intercepted a Tavera vehicle bearing registration No. JK03D-7456 and arrested two persons for their involvement in drug related offences. They have been identified as Rameez Ahmad Palla resident of Pulwama and Mohd Yaseen resident of Budgam. Officers also recovered 1Kg Charas from their possession.

Pertinently last week Raj Bagh police arrested two drug peddlers from Lal Mandi identified as Arabaz Irshad Sheikh resident of Qamarwari and Dilawar Lateef Bhat resident of Bemina. Contraband substance Heroin has been recovered from their possession.

Similarly, a couple involved in peddling of drugs and selling contraband substances to youth in the areas of Haftchinar Srinagar was also arrested for drug related offences. Contraband substance Charas was recovered from their possession. The arrested couple has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Sheikh and Haseena Begum resident of Haftchinar Srinagar.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations. Further investigations in all the cases are in progress. Also, one drug peddler identified as Tariq Ahmad Wangnoo of Habba Kadal has been booked under PSA.

Srinagar Police has resolved to act tough against drug peddlers. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
