DDC B’la chairs meeting of BLCs

BARAMULLA, JULY 08( KINS ): The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar today chaired a meeting of Block Level Committees (BLCs) at Dak Bunglow here to take stock of physical and financial position of MGNREGA and other developmental works undertaken in Rural Development Sector.

Pertinent to mention that, Block Level Committees (BLCs) were constituted under the chairmanship of concerned Tehsildars with an aim to supervise the MGNREGA works and conduct physical verification of these works.

On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on the subject was held wherein the concerned authorities briefed the chair about the current status and position of various undertaken developmental projects. It was informed that 1128 works out of the total of 2817 works have been completed in the district so far.

After taking a comprehensive review, the DDC, who is also the District Programme Coordinator stressed to work in coordination and cohesion so as to complete the undertaken works within the fixed timeline.

He emphasized exploring all avenues and possibilities for generating labour intensive works adding that such works can provide potential employment in rural areas. He also directed the BDOs and other associated functionaries to conduct field visits in their respective areas so as to properly monitor the quality and standard of work.

Meanwhile, the DDC directed the concerned to work towards redressing the grievances and issues that are being received through the online grievance portal. He further directed to ensure that all the grievances are responded well within a stipulated time frame.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Joint Director Planning, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Tehsildars, BDOs, members of BLCs among other concerned functionaries attended the meeting. ( KINS )
