Srinagar, Dec 22: In an ongoing commitment to eliminate the threat of drugs from the community, sopore police successfully apprehended a drug peddler, seizing a significant quantity of contraband from his possession.
The arrest transpired when a police team, headed by the Incharge of Police Post Watergam, conducted a checkpoint operation at Hib Dangerpora Rafiabad, intercepting an individual exhibiting suspicious behavior. A subsequent search led to the discovery of approximately 210 grams of a substance resembling charas in the suspect’s possession. The apprehended individual, identified as Muneeb Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Jabar Dar from Muqam Shaheed Mir Bomai, was promptly arrested and transported to the police station, where he remains in custody.
A case under FIR No.94/2023, encompassing pertinent sections of the law, has been officially registered at Police Station Dangiwacha, and an active investigation is underway.
Authorities encourage the public to promptly report instances of drug peddling or any criminal activity in their vicinity by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112. Cooperation from the community is sought to assist law enforcement in eradicating the drug menace.
