Srinagar, August 09: Hundreds of Kashmir’s youth showcased their dedication to democracy through vibrant participation in the Run for Democracy, Cycle Rally, and Shikara Rally at SKICC. Organized under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, the events emphasized the significance of voting and civic engagement.
The activities were inaugurated by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India, Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. SS Sandhu, who actively joined the cycle rally. This effort is part of the ongoing 2nd Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls in Jammu & Kashmir.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Chief Electoral Officer J&K PK Pole, DEO Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohuddin Bhat, and other officials supported the events, emphasizing the collaborative drive to enhance voter enrollment and participation.
The enthusiastic turnout of boys and girls created a dynamic atmosphere at SKICC and the Dal Lake backwaters. Participants chanted “we are proud voters” and pledged to become ambassadors of democracy, promising to register in voter lists, educate their peers, and uphold democratic values.
The CEC and Election Commissioners praised the youth for their commitment to democracy and their active engagement in the electoral process.
