Prof Seema Singh Appointed Dean Students Welfare at Kashmir University
Srinagar, June 1 (KINS): Kashmir University has appointed Prof Seema Singh, Professor in the Department of Botany, as Dean Students Welfare, assigning her the additional charge with immediate effect.
The appointment marks a significant administrative development in one of the university’s key student-centric offices responsible for student welfare, coordination, and engagement across various campuses and departments.
According to an official order issued by the university administration, Prof Seema Singh will discharge the duties of Dean Students Welfare in addition to her existing responsibilities in the Department of Botany. The order further states that Prof Pervez Ahmad has been relieved of the charge. The arrangement shall remain in force until further orders.
With this appointment, Prof Seema Singh becomes the first Sikh woman to hold the prestigious position of Dean Students Welfare at the University of Kashmir.
A distinguished academic and researcher, Prof Singh has made notable contributions in the field of Plant Tissue Culture of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of the Kashmir Himalaya. She has nearly 20 years of teaching and research experience at the Department of Botany, University of Kashmir.
Prof Singh has published more than 100 research papers in reputed national and international journals. She has also supervised and mentored several research scholars, with more than 15 students successfully completing their PhD and M.Phil degrees under her guidance.
Academics and students have welcomed the appointment, expressing hope that her vast academic experience and administrative acumen will further strengthen student welfare initiatives at the university.
