Detained PDP youth president Parra wins DDC seat in Pulwama

Srinagar,Dec 22 (KINS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth president Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, presently under the detention of National Investigation Agency (NIA) for his alleged terror links, has won District Development Council (DDC) seat from Pulwama-Ist.
Former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said people have shown their love and trust in Parra.
Parra was arrested by NIA five days after he filed his nomination papers for the seat in connection with his links with former Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Devender Singh who was caught transporting Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants from Srinagar to Jammu in January this year.
As Parra was in detention his family members campaigned for him.
Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, vice-president of the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) Mehbooba said “ Couldn’t be prouder of PDPs @parawahid who won his maiden election by a huge margin of votes. Despite being arrested on baseless charges right after filing his nomination people have shown their love & trust for Waheed. Hope justice prevails”(KINS)
