New Delhi, Feb 28 (KINS): Union Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized India’s growing global stature in science and technology, citing Chandrayaan-3, the Aditya-L1 solar mission, and the recent Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) as key milestones. He made these remarks while addressing a gathering on the occasion of National Science Day 2025 in New Delhi.
The theme for this year’s celebration, “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” underscores the importance of youth empowerment, capacity building, and preparing them for leadership roles on the global stage.
Dr. Singh highlighted India’s rising influence in international scientific collaborations, referencing the India-EU meeting as an example of how the world is now acknowledging India’s advancements in science and technology. He also noted that while India was previously not recognized for its therapeutic and precision-based healthcare, it is now seen as a global leader in preventive healthcare.
Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, he recalled the PM’s appeal in his Mann Ki Baat program to celebrate National Science Day with the same enthusiasm as any major festival. He further revealed that, according to a global survey, over 5,300 Indian scientists were ranked among the world’s top two percent scientists last year, reflecting the nation’s strong scientific contributions.(KINS)
