Srinagar, Mar 18 (KINS): With the arrival of spring, the Kashmir Valley is witnessing a surge in tourism, as visitors from across the country and abroad flock to its scenic landscapes.
Among the first major attractions to come alive after the harsh winter is Srinagar’s historic Badamwari Garden, which has transformed into a breathtaking spectacle of almond blossoms, drawing nature lovers and travelers alike.
Located at the foothills of Koh-e-Maran in the old city of Srinagar, the sprawling 300-kanal Badamwari Garden is adorned with almond trees in full bloom, offering a mesmerizing experience to visitors. The delicate pink and white flowers, set against a backdrop of verdant greenery, create a striking contrast to the snow-clad peaks of the valley, making it a must-visit destination for tourists during this season.
News agency KINS reported that over the past few days, as temperatures have risen and the sun has bathed the region in warmth, the footfall in Badamwari has significantly increased. Tourists were seen strolling through the garden, capturing selfies, and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.
Sunita, a tourist from Delhi, shared her excitement about the visit. “We had initially planned to leave early, but at the last moment, we decided to stop by Badamwari. After spending days amid Kashmir’s snowy landscapes, witnessing these vibrant blossoms was a refreshing change. The beauty of nature here is simply breathtaking,” she said.
Another tourist, who had been exploring the valley for a week, expressed awe at the picturesque setting. “This is my first time witnessing such an enchanting bloom. The sight of almond flowers covering the garden is a lifetime experience. I would recommend everyone to visit Kashmir during spring at least once every two years,” he said.
The resurgence of tourism in Kashmir marks a positive turn for the region’s economy, especially after the challenges posed by previous disruptions. With more travelers choosing Kashmir as their springtime destination, local businesses, hoteliers, and tour operators are hopeful for a prosperous season ahead.
Authorities are also making efforts to enhance the tourist experience by improving infrastructure and ensuring seamless visitor management. The Department of Tourism has been actively promoting spring attractions, with Badamwari emerging as a highlight in its campaign.
As the season progresses, other iconic locations in the valley, including Tulip Garden and Mughal Gardens, are also expected to see a sharp rise in tourist footfall, further boosting the appeal of Kashmir as a premier travel destination in India.
