Fresh landslides once again closes Sgr-Jammu national highway

Fresh landslides once again closed Srinagar-Jammu national highway for vehicular traffic on Thursday.

SP Traffic (Rural) Muzafar Shah told newsagency KNS that a fresh landslide occurred near Digdol on the highway in the Wednesday evening due to which movement of traffic had to be stopped once again.

“Efforts are on to clear the landslide and we are hopeful by evening it will get cleared. The fresh traffic will be allowed to move only when the road is cleared,” he said.

He advised the passengers to contact respective traffic control units (TCU) before starting the journey on the highway. “Passengers are requested not to start their journey from either side of the road, till the highway is completely cleared of debris,” the official said.

The highway was closed on Wednesday afternoon when the fresh landslide has occurred in digdol area and a large number of vehicles is stranded on the highway.

Since early November, the highway got closed several times due to snowfall and landslides causing huge inconvenience to the travelers. (KNS)
