Jammu, Sep 09: In an effort to calm internal tensions, the BJP on Monday reassigned key roles to several leaders who were denied tickets in the upcoming elections.
Former Minister Sat Sharma has been named as the working president of the J&K BJP, while former deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh has been appointed as the campaign committee head. Sat Sharma, who previously represented the Jammu West constituency and served as the party’s president and a minister in the BJP-PDP government, was replaced by Arvind Gupta as the candidate for the upcoming elections.
Nirmal Singh, who represented Billawar in Kathua district, lost his seat to Satish Sharma but will now lead the BJP’s campaign. Additionally, former minister Sukhnandan Choudhary has been appointed as vice-president of the campaign committee.
Another former deputy chief minister, Kavinder Gupta, will head the election management committee. Gupta, who previously represented the now-divided Gandhi Nagar constituency, had hoped for the ticket from Bahu, but the party selected Vikram Randhawa to contest in that constituency.
